How have you adapted to the changes brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic?
It’s hard to believe it has been five years since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. Its effects are still fresh in my mind. I hope we don’t pass through another one any time soon. Of course, it brought so many changes to our lives. The most important ones for me were related to mental health and general quality of life. Every cloud has a silver lining.
Mental health
We all were under a lot of stress during the more of three years for which the pandemic lasted. I remember watching the news and not knowing exactly where things were going, specially at the beginning. The trial and error by several sectors of society, and the disinformation that came from so many governments, both were nerve-wrecking. I’m glad that where I live, in Canada, the authorities followed the scientific community guidance most of the time. They provided much needed help to their citizens. But even so, seeing some people trying to discredit what was being done made me feel emotionally drained.
Quality of life
We know that we are not going to live forever. It’s important to live life to the full while we are still here. So, I started valuing spending time in contact with nature. I also enjoy the sun more. Additionally, I celebrate friendships. Anything that makes me feel better, and be better, sign me up.
So, I learned to take care of my mental health and pay more attention to the quality of life. I’m still a work in progress. But I try to get out of the house more, occupy my mind with healthy thoughts, learn new things. And this blog is something that was born out of this. I wanted to bring about something that has to do with creativity, discipline, and self-knowledge. If not for anybody else, at least for myself. I’m glad I did this, it helps me take my mind off of negative thoughts.
This proverb became very real to me after the pandemic. Every cloud has a silver lining.
