When is the last time you took a risk? How did it work out?
We take risks everyday, for everything, even without noticing. This happens when we chose a particular path to go to work. Or when we decide to cross the street. Or again when we make up our minds to stay at the comfort of our home. Just small things, it doesn’t need to be to ride a roller coaster. These may be unconscious decisions, but we make them all the time.
Fear of heights
Of course, and I’m speaking for myself, I normally make the choice with the lower risk. There are other people who may be adrenaline junkies that love to live dangerously. People who skydive, practice bungee jumping, or do the EdgeWalk on the CN Tower. I’m not one of those people. As I told before, I have a fear of heights.
The Jurassic World VelociCoaster
So, I’m being honest when I say I don’t really remember the last time I took a big risk consciously. If it’s up to me, I will always take the safer route. Actually, pausing to think, probably that did happen when I went to an amusement park. It was about one year ago, at the Universal Studios in Orlando. I mustered up the courage and really enjoyed making the decision to ride the Jurassic World VelociCoaster.
A roller coaster of emotions, literally
I went alone, my partner is even more averse to risks than I am. It’s a little strange to do something by yourself after being together for so long. But that added to the excitement. The waiting line was huge. However, you don’t stay idle. There’s a background story to the roller coaster. You watch video clips and explore fancy locker rooms. There are also velociraptor noises and jump scares all the way. After you leap into the car, you realize there’s no turning back. Everything happens so fast! That’s part of the appeal. You feel all the emotions—fear, excitement, relief—almost instantaneously.
After it’s done, though, you keep wanting for more.
