I’m not one to brag

What are you good at?

The last time I answered this, I listed five things I thought was good at. Oh, gosh! It’s almost six months since then, time flies. It’s fun to look back to a similar post and see what has changed. I started then by saying that I’m not one to brag, and that’s still the case. So, I will try to list a couple things more without repeating what I said before. But it won’t be easy.

Noticing beauty in unexpected places

I still enjoy photography, and I still enjoy reading. I believe this shows perceptiveness and a sense of appreciation. But the way I look at things has change dramatically since I started writing everyday. I’m noticing things more, I’m considering things from a different angle. And I’m trying to put myself in the shoes of other people and think and feel things with another mindset. In short, this has helped me see beauty in places I didn’t notice before.

Learning through curiosity, not just instruction

I’m curious by nature, that’s also why I love reading. Because of this, I’m trying new things everyday. This morning I learned to make a homemade envelope with one sheet of paper. I also used sealing wax to seal it. It was fun and instructive.

That’s one of the reasons why I cook. For example, today I made batatas ao murro, loosely translated as punched potatoes. It has been years since the last time I did it. It’s relatively simple dish, but it’s delicious and I didn’t need to look at a recipe. That’s because I did it before, and that’s how we learn things.

Finding meaning in things others might overlook

As I said, I’m not one to brag. And sometimes the things I’m good at make sense only to myself. I’m reflective and quietly philosophical, that’s why I’m interested in Tarot, philosophy and symbolism. They might not interest anyone else, but they have meaning to me, and I think this is what counts.

But enough about myself. What are the things you think you are good at? Please leave those at the comments!
