Everyday happiness

What are 5 everyday things that bring you happiness?

I’m glad you asked! At the beginning of the year, I said I would do things that are fun. And one of them would be writing daily at this blog. I’m on a 100-day streak and counting. I have covered so much ground lately. I will point below to recent posts where I have explored each of the topics in more depth. These are things that bring me everyday happiness.

Exercising in our indoor bike

We gave in and got an indoor bike for exercising. The problem is, winter in Canada lasts practically six months. You need to have options to work out at home. As a consequence I started paying attention to my health and exercising more this year. I’m really happy with the results. It has improved my health, my mood, and my general disposition. But I wouldn’t be doing this so often if it wasn’t fun. Just sitting in a bike without any entertainment isn’t inviting. So, I have been taking the classes that our fitness app suggests. It truly helps!

Enjoying a beautiful sunny day

I like when it’s sunny, but not too hot. Like the cool days that we have in spring and autumn. The ones with a clear blue sky. There is a gentle breeze and the fresh air fill our lungs. It’s that kind of day when you just need a light jacket to go out.

Writing a mystery book

ChatGPT: Here’s a mysterious and atmospheric cover that reflects the feel of the name options! It captures the noir, gothic, and thriller vibes you might want to associate with your writing.

I asked ChatGPT what would be a few middle names that would sound nice with my real names. Besides, I asked for them to be tailored for someone who would write mystery or thriller novels. I must say, it didn’t disappoint. In the post are the suggestions it gave me, with their respective meanings and significance. While I was at it, I asked it to create the cover for the post as well.

Making (and eating) ice cream

Vanilla ice cream

I love trying new things in the kitchen. My latest experiments have been with ice cream. So far, I have made vanilla, banana, melon, strawberry and orange ice cream. This weekend I will try my hand with the chocolate one. All of them have turned out quite good: velvety, creamy, delicious!

Watching a movie

In this post, I wanted to explore a mental mechanism. I use it a lot for coping with negative feelings: healthy distractions. Reading, watching movies, or engaging in a hobby can give temporary relief and help shift focus. Since we are talking about emotions, and how to use healthy distractions, I’d like to suggest some films. I recommend the two movies from the Inside Out franchise from Pixar.

I hope you are enjoying these posts, they express simple things that bring me everyday happiness.
