What could you do differently?
Continuing with the New Year’s resolutions, I will give more attention to my health this year. For this I’m counting on technology help to keep me on track.
An app for counting calories
MyFitnessPal is a food tracking app that has a database with over of 14 million verified foods. But it’s more than that. Besides counting calories, it tracks the nutrients of the food that you have eaten. It also has helpful graphs and dashboards to show your progress. I know that sometimes it’s hard to remember to log your every meal. They made it easy with a barcode scan of commercial food and meals. They also remind you when you skip a meal if you want. The best part is that you can put your starting weight, your goal and when you want to reach it. The app then tells how much calories you can take in a day until you reach it. It also connects with your Apple Health and Apple Watch. It monitors how much exercise you have done. Then it adjusts your calorie intake.
Using more the Apple Watch
When I am at home I always forget to wear my watch right after I wake up. I’m trying to make it a habit to have it on me all the time, even when I am sleeping. I learned that it can keep track of your sleeping habits and I’m trying to take advantage of that. It also lets you know all the movement you have done in a day and the calories spent. Since it connects with Apple Health and MyFitnessPal, any extra energy that I spend in workouts count. This means that I can eat a little more without a guilty conscience.
What are the strategies that you are taking this year to improve your health? Are you also employing technology help? Leave that in the comments!
